My last assignment in the first year of the BMI Workshop was to write a 10 minute musical - Ours turned out to be 14.5 minutes long. My writing partner, Tracy Sallows, and I would meet every Monday night after “class” - BMI Workshop Class -  across W. 57th St. street at the ‘Moonrock Diner’ to discuss ideas on what to write. We couldn’t agree on what to write about, so eventually we both agreed to write about us trying to write a 10 minute musical. So we used our real life idea struggle as the basis of the plot. And the 2 characters are named Brent & Tracy and the there is a non-singing role, the Waiter.
