WEATHERLEY’S WALTZ
for Chamber Orchestra
by W. Brent Sawyer
completed 3/19/2021
approx. length: 3:50 minutes
dedicated to my friend, Mr. Weatherley
I wanted to write a whimsical piece. I played on the oscillation back and forth from major to minor. I also like thick textures and wanted to see how fat I could make these sounds but still hear the lines. The middle slow sections has big thick chords that created a sonic cloud, that sounds very much like an organ. The major and minor play reminds me of Spring- it is a happy renewal of life but also a sadness that winter is over.
